The Miami Dolphins picked up another target for QB Ryan Tannehill. A person with knowledge of the contract says tight end Dustin Keller has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Dolphins.

The person confirmed the agreement to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because it had not yet been announced.

Keller spent his first five NFL seasons with the New York Jets, who selected him with the 30th pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Purdue. He caught 241 passes for 2876 yards, with 17 touchdown catches.

Dolphins Sign Mike Wallace to 5-Year Deal

He was slowed by a left ankle injury last year and made 28 catches for 317 yards and two scores in eight games. By giving him a one-year deal, the Dolphins have limited their risk with regards to Keller. If he is healthy next season, there is a chance that another team will be able to sign him away from Miami.

But if Keller's 2012 injury troubles carry over to 2013, Miami can simply cut ties with him after the season.

The Dolphins acquired Keller to replace Anthony Fasano, their starting tight end the past four years. He signed Tuesday with the Kansas City Chiefs. Fasano led the Dolphins with five touchdowns last season.

Along with the signing of receiver Mike Wallace and extension of Brian Hartline, Keller's deal shores up the team's receiving and tight end corps significantly.

The Dolphins are still working to re-sign LT Jake Long, who is also being wooed by the St. Louis Rams. Miami also has holes at cornerback to fill, as free agent Sean Smith departed for Kansas City earlier this week.
