Jacory Harris Introduces Alter Ego “J12”

When 'Canes fans create their own alter egos in tribute, let's hope the alter egos are unfamiliar with the word "bro"

Jacory Harris is no longer playing for the Miami Hurricanes. Apparently he never was -- that ice-cold, reed-thin flinger who led Miami to victories over Georgia Tech and Oklahoma last season wasn't Jacory Harris at all.

It was his alter ego, J12, who is the "total opposite" of quiet, regular Jacory.

“I’d say J12 is the guy who’s completely confident about everything and has fun, loosens up when he gets on the field,” said no. 12 in an interview with The Associated Press. “On the field, in the huddle, that’s when he comes out. Then off the field, I’m my regular self.

"No one sees J12 off the field. I never intertwine the two.”

Except maybe during that whole pink-suit-to-the-Heisman episode. Quiet, regular Jacory may be the watered-down version of Jacory, but he's still got style and possibly a pimp cup.

As far as we're concerned, Harris can create as many alter egos as he needs so long as none are named Kirby Freeman.

But if J12 is Miami's next Kelly, Torretta, Walsh, or Dorsey, consider a hand injury his kryptonite. Increasingly hobbled and eventually all but entirely unable to grip a ball, a little Jacory Harris crept into J12 as the combined Jacory-bot threw an NCAA second-worst 17 interceptions and the 'Canes watched their ACC hopes slip away.

He says all the time spent studying his mistakes in the months recovering from surgery on his hand have helped him mature, making him "more comfortable than ever with the plays.”

He's also more comfortable sliding back and forth between his two personalities. When Harris told the AP he is "just a regular guy trying to win a national championship with my team," it was pointed out that regular guys don't win national championships.

"I know," he said, "That's why J12 is going to come out."
