Panthers Sign Gold Medalist Bogdan Kiselevich

The Panthers signed defenseman Bogdan Kiselevich to a one-year deal on Friday

The Florida Panthers signed Olympic gold medalist Bogdan Kiselevich to a one-year contract on Friday.

Kiselevich earned his gold medal during the recent 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games. The defenseman also played in the Kontinental Hockey League with CSKA Moscow. Kiselevich's one-year contract is of the one-way variety.

In Kiselevich's final season with CSKA Moscow, he tallied 16 points in 44 games. Kiselevich has 123 points overall in his career in KHL regular season games and has also seen some playoff action. The Panthers missed the playoffs in 2017-18 and will hope Kiselevich can help them make a return to the postseason.

"Bogdan is a solid, shutdown defenseman who adds depth to our blue line and possesses a strong work ethic," said team president of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon. "He's proven himself to be a reliable defensive presence on the international stage and in the KHL and has the ability to be a steadying influence on the back end for our young defensemen."

Kiselevich had two assists in his six games during the Olympics. Prior to playing in Pyeongchang, Kiselevich had also taken part in other international events. Kiselevich represented Russia at the IIHF World Championship in 2017 and 2018. Russia picked up a bronze medal in 2017 and Kiselevich helped five points in ten games played.

The Panthers also signed Josh Brown and Ludwig Bystrom on Thursday and will likely continue to work on the depth of the roster.
