Shannon Tells UM Players He Doesn't Give a Tweet

No more tweeting for UM players

You won't hear a peep or a tweet out of University of Miami players, at least not online.

Players have been ordered to close all Twitter accounts by 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by head coach Randy Shannon, who apparently is not a fan of social media or his team's lack of concentration.

"I called coach Shannon, who is out recruiting, and he told me he's asked players to shut down their Twitter accounts," UM sports information director Chris Freet told the Miami Herald. "The goal is to limit distractions and help them focus. There are bigger goals than Tweeting."

Tweeting didn't cause Jacory Harris to throw four interceptions on Saturday against Ohio State or cause the defense to drop numerous interception chances, but when all else fails, blame Twitter.

Maybe Shannon is a motivation genius and this will be a rallying cry for players who will take they anger out on the opposing team. Score one for the Twitter!

Shannon has not taken his social media onslaught to Facebook, but that could change if the team doesn't look much better when they play Pittsburgh next Thursday.

Players had better hope the season gets better and quick or they might be reduced to buying stamps and communicating the old fashioned way by writing letters.
