Marlins Pick Up Easy Win Over Mets

The Marlins made it look easy with their 7-2 victory over the Mets in New York on Friday

The Miami Marlins won a second straight game with their 7-2 victory over the New York Mets on Friday.

After losing twice to the Washington Nationals in a three-game series, Miami looked like a rejuvenated team in this game. The Marlins capped off that Washington series with a comeback win and carried the momentum to New York.

Wei-Yin Chen started for Miami and had a big night on the mound, but also at the plate. Chen picked up the first hit of his big league career and went six strong innings. Chen ended up with five strikeouts, while also walking one. The lefty surrendered seven hits and one run.

After Chen was lifted, Nick Wittgren and Dustin McGowan combined for three solid innings of relief.

Miami's offense had a big night 11 hits and one of those knocks was a Christian Yelich home run. The HR was Yelich's first of the season and he now has homered in four straight games at Citi Field. Yelich also singled during the win and scored another run along the way.

Marcell Ozuna had three of Miami's hits and also walked. The left fielder is hittng a robust .412 this season and now has four runs batted in.

Derek Dietrich had a big game with three RBI and his first triple of the season. Miami's third baseman also added a single, a walk and a run scored.

The Marlins will try to make it three wins in a row, when they send Adam Conley to the mound on Saturday.
