The Miami Heat are in the midst of a seven game winning streak and on Sunday they took time to do some good for the community at the 17th Annual Family Festival
The festival took place behind the AmericanAirlines Arena with Heat players and coaches participating in the festivities, according to the Palm Beach Post. The festival is configured like a carnival and is a day to celebrate while generating much needed funds for the local community. A total of $500,000 was raised on Sunday with appearances made by Heat players including LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
At one point, Wade tried to keep his distance from a large snake, generating laughs from his teammates.
“It continues to be fun. My kids get a chance to act up and be around a lot of my teammates’ kids and their friends. It’s a special time for them,” Wade told the Post.
Chris Bosh, who was also in attendance at the event, made note of the fact Miami offers this type of luxury that can't be found in some other NBA cities. Bosh who played in Toronto before joining the big three, dealt with a much colder climate north of the border.
“It was too cold outside, so you couldn’t do much of anything. We never had anything like this," Bosh said to the Post.
The Heat will be back on the hardwood on Monday night after their relaxing and generous day off with the last game of what has been a perfect home stand for the team. The Charlotte Bobcats are the opponent and as the Post pointed out, this is a potential first round preview for the playoffs. Currently the Heat are the second seed while the Bobcats sit in seventh but both teams could move before all is said and done.

After the Heat's game on Monday, they are set to hit the road for three straight games including a NBA Finals re-match with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday per the team's schedule. Following back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday, that will be the third game in four days for Miami. Should the Heat maintain their winning streak, it would be earned in what looks to be one of their toughest stretches of the year.
