Miami Heat Wearing Throwback Black Jerseys At Home

The Heat will wear throwback black jerseys for their next seven home games, beginning with Thursday's matchup against the Lakers

The Miami Heat have worn a number of different looks in recent years, and now there is one more being added to the list. This one, though, is a familiar one for longtime fans of the franchise.

Starting with Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Heat will wear their old style black jerseys for seven straight home games, according to a tweet from Ira Winderman, the Heat beat writer for the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

These jerseys were worn in the days when Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway and Dan Majerle took the court at the old Miami Arena.  The jerseys that you see in so many of those epic New York Knicks rivalry games long before LeBron James ever stepped onto an NBA court.  Now James himself along with his teammates will wear this old school look for a good number of their remaining home games.

Mix in the nickname jerseys and according to Winderman, the regular home whites won't be seen again until March 3.

Earlier this year, the Heat wore a red jersey that was similar to their Christmas look from last season. The team also wore a throwback version of the old red jerseys last season.  In addition to those and their normal home jersey, the Heat have a standard red alternate jersey, a black jersey, an all-white jersey, and an all-black jersey. They also will wear the nickname jerseys for two more home games this season after wearing them twice thus far.

In recent years, the team has also featured a throwback to the Miami Floridians along with a jersey that had "El Heat" across the front for the NBA's Noche Latina.
