Dummy Attempts Jailbreak By Dummy

Pro tip: wait until right after you need to talk out loud to substitute a mute object for yourself.

We're not sure this plan has ever worked outside TV and movies, but that didn't stop 22-year-old Patrick Jamal Walton from trying it: he secretly built a dummy in his jail cell, put it to bed on Friday night, and attempted to escape.

Police at St. Petersburg's Work Release Center foiled the plan when the dummy failed to respond to roll call, and Walton was caught just outside the building.

Guess waiting until after he was supposed to speak out loud didn't occur to either dummy.

To make matters worse for Walton, he was on the tail end of a two-year sentence for dealing in stolen property when he attempted the great escape, and now faces additional time thanks to felony escape charges.

The unfortunate Walton's been moved to the Pinellas County Jail, where it's even less likely the handmade version of himself will be finishing a sentence anytime soon.
