A Florida man is facing an attempted murder charge after authorities say he attacked his grandmother with a machete at her Tampa area home Sunday.
Anthony Griffith, 34, is also facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a victim over 65 following the physical dispute with grandmother Barbara Harvey in Plant City, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
During the dispute, Griffith grabbed the machete and slashed Harvey in the face and upper body, the sheriff's office said.
According to an arrest report, Griffith called 911 after the attack and explained what he had done. Deputies responded and arrested him without incident.
A sheriff's spokeswoman says Harvey was in intensive care on Sunday night at Florida Hospital.
