A man was fatally shot and a police officer was injured Saturday morning in SW Miami-Dade after a chase in which the suspect hit several officers with his vehicle, Miami-Dade police said.
The identities of the suspect and the injured officer were not released at this time.
Investigators said that a vehicle was seen driving erratically around 10:40 p.m. on Friday. Police followed the vehicle but lost sight.
Several hours later, officers spotted a car that matched the description of the suspect's vehicle. Police confirmed that it was the same car involved in the earlier accident.
When police tried to stop the vehicle, the man refused, fled and hit several officers with his car.
The suspect stopped the vehicle near SW 248th St and SW 128 Ave. As police approached, the suspect tried to hit them again with his car.
Police then opened fire and killed the suspect. One officer sustained minor injuries and was treated. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle, according to police.
