Rapper Flo Rida Avoiding Jail in DUI Deal

Rapper Flo Rida struck a deal with prosecutors that will keep him out of jail for his DUI arrest in Miami Beach earlier this year.

The 32-year-old singer, whose real name is Tramar Dillard, will be allowed to enroll in the state's "Back on Track" program for first time DUI offenders, his attorney, Daniel Lurvey, said Wednesday.

Dillard will have to perform community service, take DUI classes, and pay fees and court costs, Lurvey told NBC Miami.

If he completes the terms of the program, the DUI will be amended to a reckless driving charge and he'll have no points on his license.

"He's very pleased" about the outcome, Lurvey said.

Rida was pulled over in his 2008 Bugatti in the area of Lenox Avenue and 5th Street around 3:45 a.m. on June 9 after he was spotted driving erratically, according to a police report.

According to the report, officers who pulled the singer over said he had "bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath."

Police say he failed a field sobriety test and measured a .185 on a breathalyzer exam, over twice the legal limit in Florida. He was arrested and later released on bond.

A native of Carol City, Rida's first hit "Low" reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2008.
