Police are looking for a burglary suspect who inadvertently led to another man's death during a break-in at a Hallandale Beach home.

Hallandale Beach Police say Frantzy Etienne, 29, forced his way into the home in the 300 block of Northwest 5th Avenue around 3 a.m. Sunday armed with a six-foot wooden stick.

Once inside, he got into a struggle with three people, including residents Macarthur Smith, 26, and Maria Smith, 29.

One of the three victims fired a weapon in self-defense, but Macarthur Smith was inadvertently struck in the upper torso, killing him, police said.

Maria Smith was also shot in the left forearm, and was treated and released at Hollywood Memorial Hospital.

Etienne, who faces charged of armed burglary, aggravated battery and murder, fled the scene on foot, police said. He's described as a black male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous, and he is known to frequent North Miami and Hollywood.
