Brett Favre has managed to get his revenge against the Dolphins.

Sort of.

The NFL announced Tuesday that they would bump the Miami vs. New England game at Land Shark Stadium from its prime time NBC Sunday Night Football slot on Dec. 6 in favor of Minnesota versus Arizona. The Dolphins game will now be played at 1 p.m. on CBS

And the move was made for only one reason: Favre-Mania. Or maybe the league's premiere prima donna called in a favor just to spite the Phins, the team that knocked him out of the playoffs on the last week of the season last year.

Either way, the NFL used its flex scheduling deal with the networks to give the Dolphins the boot.

In most reasonable minds, the Patriots-Dolphins game offers more intrigue, significance and a higher upside for a ratings bonanza.

The Dolphins have quickly become one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch and have proved it with three stellar performances in prime spots this year.

Miami narrowly lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the first Monday Night Football game of the year that was a thriller. Then the Phins won against their chief rival, the New York Jets on a last second touchdown on MNF. And last week, the Dolphins showed they are still a television force by producing an entertaining Thursday night game on the NFL Network in a win against the Carolina Panthers.

True, the NFL loves some Favre, but unless he was playing the Green Bay Packers, chances are Vikings-Cardinals won't produce the drama the Dolphins would. And Arizona isn't nearly the Super Bowl bound team of destiny it was a year ago.

And if the Patriots lose to the New Orleans Saints this week and the Dolphins beat Buffalo - both of which are very conceivable - the Dec. 6 game will be for the division lead.

For Dolphin fan, scrap those plans to tailgate after sundown and get ready to fire up the grill early.

At least Favre will give you a reason to go to bed early on Dec. 6.
