Investigation into sergeant's collision with man on bicycle early Sunday

A Homestead cop is being investigated after he was involved in a deadly accident that claimed the life of a cyclist over the weekend.

Sergeant James Orebaugh was off-duty when he struck a man riding a bike around 4 a.m. Sunday on Northeast 8th St. near North Homestead Blvd., according to a police spokesperson.

Orebaugh was driving his privately-owned pickup truck when he collided with the cyclist.
