Woman Injured, 2 Dogs Die as Fire Destroys Sunrise Home

Crews spent part of their Monday morning putting out a large fire that destroyed a Sunrise home.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 10 a.m. at NW 30th Place and 113th Avenue, where flames at engulfed part of the home. Officials say they were able to get the blaze under control and are continuing efforts to put it out.

According to a neighbor, the home's owner - who neighbors say is in poor health - was screaming that her house was on fire and her two boxer dogs were trapped inside. Crews who responded were held back because the fire was too intense and there was a fear the roof would collapse.

Officials say that an oxygen tank and propane tank both exploded and that both dogs died in the fire. One neighbor was taken to the hospital after she suffered minor burns.

An investigation continues into what started the blaze.
