I-95 Re-Opens in Boca Raton After Crash and Brush Fire

All lanes on Interstate-95 and Glades Road have reopened after authorities temporarily closed them Monday afternoon after a crash and brush fire.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened just south of Glades Road on the southbound lanes of I-95 after one car hit another, causing the second car to hit a power pole. The pole broke in half and the surrounding trees caught fire, officials said.

The driver of the second car was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, FHP said.

A third car may have been involved, according to officials.

Northbound I-95 remained closed between Glades Road and Palmetto Road for several hours due to downed high voltage lines from the crash, according to Boca Raton Police.

Southbound lanes reopened just after 5 p.m. Northbound lanes opened shortly afterwards.
