I-75 Reopens Despite Brush Fire

    Associated Press

A stretch of Alligator Alley in Collier County was temporarily closed due to smoke from a nearby brush fire Monday afternoon, but has since reopened as of 6:30 p.m.

The 30-acre fire is burning near mile marker 96 and FHP closed Alligator Alley (I-75) from mile marker 101 (County Road 951) to mile marker 80 (SR-29).

According to NBC 2 in Fort Myers, fire officials said the brush fire was sparked by lightning on Monday, but wasn’t discovered until Tuesday morning.

The fire is reportedly 20 percent contained.
