Cops Bust Tri-County Robin Hoods

Group stole $2.7 million in valuables from homes

The Dinner Set Crew isn't exactly the Robin Hoods of the South. They are just hoods.

Law enforcement agencies from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties worked to collar the five-man team, which is accused of breaking into numerous homes and stealing high-end valuables and reselling them in other states.

The group, led by 31-year-old Kane Lopez of Hallandale, stole nearly $3 million worth of jewelry and other valuables over a year span.

Also arrested were Emery Lorenzo and Michael Chala of Miami Lakes, Silvia Ordonez of Miami and Lazaro Tenreiro of Georgia.

Each member of the crew faces fraud, racketeering, grand theft and money laundering charges.

From June of 2009, the group would target pricey homes and affluent neighborhoods in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade. The robberies weren't sophisticated, often involving the crew sneaking in after cutting a hole into a screen door or sliding glass window. Once inside, they would go for safes and jewelry.

Once they even stole a Bentley from a victim.

Lopez would sell the stolen items out of his Gold For Less pawn shop in North Miami Beach.
