Police say a Davie man who was trying to teach his 12-year-old daughter about gun safety accidentally shot her in the arm Sunday night.
Davie Police say the father was attempting to show his daughter how to safely draw a firearm from his pocket when he accidentally shot her in the left forearm. The accidental shooting occurred at 7791 Northwest 34th Street.
The girl was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hospital staff notified the Child Protective Investigations Section of the Broward Sheriff's Office of the incident. There will be a follow-up in the case conducted by CPIS, who will send their findings to the State Attorney's Office for review.
It is not known whether the father will face any charges in the shooting, which police say appears to have been unintentional.
