Detectives Search for Key Largo Armed Robbery Suspects

Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify two armed robbery suspects after they held up a Key Largo convenience store.

A young man and young woman entered the Tom Thumb at mile marker 102.6 just before 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The male asked for two cartons of cigarettes. Deputies say the man pulled a gun after the clerk asked for his identification. The suspect then pushed the clerk backwards and threw a black backpack at the clerk's feet, demanding all of the money from the cash register be put into the backpack.

At the same time, the young woman also revealed a black revolver. The two suspects took the backpack with the money and the cartons of cigarettes before fleeing the store on foot.

Deputies describe the male suspect as being approximately 18-20 years old, 5'7" to 5'9" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a red "Punisher" skull symbol on the front and black pants. The femle suspect is described as being 17-18 years old, 5'3" to 5'5" tall, wearing a black shirt and red shorts.
