Family of Crash Victim Sends Hit-and-Run Driver Emotional Message

Heartbroken loved ones of a man killed in a hit-and-run beg for the driver to surrender.

Earlier this month, the victim crashed on the Turkpike, and then was run over by a second driver who never looked back.

Luis Rodriguez's family wants to remember him as a loving father, brother and son. Not by images of his wrecked motorcycle.

On Monday, his loved ones spoke with heavy hearts about Rodriguez and what he meant to their family.

"My brother was an exceptional father, an exceptional brother, probably one of the best people you could ever meet. He was always trying to help people out," said Rodriguez's sister, Yessenia Barrios.

On July 1 at approximately 6:15 a.m., Rodriguez was headed north on the Turnpike near Kendall Drive. Relatives said something went wrong with his motorcycle. He crashed and a second vehicle then hit Rodriguez.

Family Attorney Michael Goldfarb is certain that driver killed Rodriguez, "Luis was still alive. We don't know if he was injured or not, but when the other vehicle ran over him and struck him, that's what we believe caused his death."

27 days later and detectives still have no leads. Relatives are hoping somebody saw something and calls police.

"Just picture it being one of your family members and what you would have wanted for somebody to do for your family if you were caught in the same situation," Barrios said.

Rodriguez left behind a fiance and his two-year-old son, as well as many other family members and friends.

If you know anything about this case, you're asked to call police.
