Fl Deputy Shoots Finger During Dog Attack

A Florida sheriff's deputy shot part of her finger off while shooting a pit bull that was attacking her.

The entire incident was caught on dash cam video.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, Pasco County deputy Monica Bray responded to a call about a homeless man who had been bitten by a pit bull.

On the tape, you see her approach a mobile home, when suddenly, the pit bull appears.

The deputy calls to the dog's owner, but then the animal lunges at Bray.

She shoots the dog and part of her left ring finger.

Another deputy begins comforting Bray and puts her into his squad car.

The dog's owner -- who lives in a tent in the woods -- is heard sobbing in the background.

The owner says she doesn't believe Bray had to shoot and insists the dog was on a leash.

However, neighbors disagree as well as deputy Bray who says she owns three pit bulls herself.
