Authorities are looking for the person responsible for stealing SWAT gear and several weapons from a Monroe County sergeant’s patrol car.
The car was parked at the Sgt. Ken Fricke's Big Pine Key residence at the time of the incident.
Authorities said the perpetrator made off with a .40-caliber Glock, an automatic rifle with a scope and a .45-caliber Glock pistol, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Also stolen was a bag of his SWAT gear and ammunition.
Fricke, a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, said he heard his dogs barking between 2 and 2:30 a.m. and discovered the burglary at 9 a.m.
The belongings were stolen from the inside of the car and the vehicle’s trunk, but it is unknown how the suspect gained access, sheriffs said.
