Neighbor Shoots Neighbor Over Parking Spot: Cops

Argument over property line turns deadly: police

A bitter feud between two Hialeah neighbors over a parking spot ended with one man dead following a shooting Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the 300 block of West 40th Place after an argument between 33-year-old Julio Pena and his 47-year-old neighbor Jose Mora.

Police said the two had been arguing over the property line and a fence between their houses when Mora got a gun and shot Pena.

Pena, who was married with a young daughter, was killed at the scene. Mora was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Police said Pena had been moving a truck so he could keep working on a new room he was adding to his home.

"We know that they've had problems now for a few weeks," said Hialeah Police Detective Eddie Rodriguez. "Today was the day that the subject armed himself with a hand gun and shot and killed the victim...a very tragic story."

Mora was ordered held without bond after a court appearance Monday.
