Little Gator Hunter Drags 6-Footer Home

Florida boy jumps on alligator's back, brings it to front yard

Australia had the Crocodile Hunter, but in Florida we have the Alligator Hunter.

And he's only 10 years old.

Florida wildlife officials say Michael Dasher jumped on a nearly 6-foot alligator's back then dragged it from a canal to his Rockledge home Wednesday.

Dasher had been fishing with friends when something big caught his hook and snapped the line. That something was an alligator, which charged at him.

The quick-thinking boy told Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers that he started hitting the gator with sticks before hopping on its back.

Somehow, he managed to drag it to his front yard, surprising his grandfather who called the FWC. The gator was measured at 5 feet 9 inches long.

Dasher suffered only minor scratches on his hands and arms and was given a stern talk by officers about his gator wrangling.

Officials said they'd release the gator back into the St. John's River.
