Authorities were investigating the death of a 70-year-old man they say was found in his Pompano Beach apartment complex, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The body of Jeffrey Blaugrund was found in a second-floor apartment on the 300 block of Oaks Drive Thursday.

Keyla Concepcion, spokeswoman for the BSO, told NBC 6 South Florida that she couldn't give details about what authorities found in the apartment.

"We can't discuss exactly what the deputies saw, but there were obvious signs of foul play," she said.

Neighbors, who complained of a strong odor coming from the room, told deputies they last saw the man in the parking lot of the complex six days before the discovery.
