An early morning accident on the Palmetto Expressway led to the arrest of one man and the recovery of a car reportedly stolen in an armed carjacking – and later used in a robbery.
Police arrested one man from that stolen vehicle after it blew a tire and crashed on the northbound side after SW 8th Street early Wednesday morning. Another man fled the scene on foot and police continue to search for him.
According to NBC 6 sources, the car had been taken from a location in the city of Miami and was later used in a robbery in South Miami. Miami-Dade Police spotted the car in Kendall overnight and followed it until the accident took place.
Officers also found two guns when they searched the vehicle. The car was towed away from the scene, but an investigation continues.
