Man Claiming Ebola Symptoms Prompts Temporary Hospital Shutdown

A man visited Coral Gables Hospital saying he had Ebola symptoms, prompting a temporary shut-down.

A male patient in his 20s walked in to the hospital, saying he was a commercial pilot who had recently traveled to Nigeria, according to Coral Gables Fire Rescue. The hospital went into a bypass mode, where they halt the acceptance of new patients. After evaluating the man, officials said it does not appear that he had Ebola.

Coral Gables Hospital released the following statement: "Coral Gables Hospital routinely cares for patients with communicable diseases which require a variety of precautionary measures. We do not have a patient with a confirmed case of Ebola at this time."

The hospital re-opened shortly afterward and is now operating normally.
