A Miami Beach firefighter came to the rescue of a dog that was found struggling in the water near Biscayne Bay Thursday morning.
Firefighter Emilio Sanchez is being hailed a hero after he jumped into the water to save the dog after an engine crew received an animal rescue call.
Footage tweeted by Miami Beach Fire Rescue showed Sanchez swim to the exhausted dog and help keep it above the surface. He then swam to shore and helped get the dog on dry land.
The dog took a breather before posing for a photo with Sanchez.
Officials were able to reunite the 12-year-old dog, a Chinese Shar Pei/Rottweiler, with its owner later Thursday.
