A Miami Police officer was hospitalized Friday after his squad car was struck by an ATV and he lost control and crashed into a tree while pursuing the ATV.
The officer was out on patrol when the ATV crashed into his car and fled. The officer started to pursue the suspect but crashed into the tree at 5th Avenue and Northwest 59th Street.
The officer was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and was wearing a neck brace when he was wheeled in. He was later released from the hospital.
Police set up a large perimeter to look for the suspect. No other information was immediately known.
