Parents Smoked Fake Pot Before Infant's Death

Cops still investigating circumstances behind 4-month-old found dead in a crib

A crazy scene inside a Miami-Dade courtroom ended with a judge awarding custody of a 3-year-old child to the state Tuesday.

The child's mother, Jhanine Jordan, is now dealing with the loss of two children in less than four days.

Jordan is at the center of a police investigation after her 4-month-old son died Saturday after he was found unresponsive in his crib.

At the shelter hearing, it was revealed that Jordan and the child's father, 24-year-old Jerry Correa, had smoked a synthetic drug called "Red Magic" the night before the baby was found dead.

Jordan also tested positive for cocaine, an attorney said in court.

Police have not released the cause of death, but Jordan's history with the Department of Children and Families led some to question whether she should be allowed to keep custody of her other child.

The 3-year old was living with Jordan's mother, but a judge ruled it best that DCF place the child in foster care until the incident is fully resolved.

The child's father is in prison on drug charges.

On Saturday, Jordan called 911 and rushed the 4-month-old to the hospital after he was found face down in the crib.

When police arrived to the couple's apartment they found it in deplorable conditions, which prompted them to notify DCF.

Saturday's tragic incident was not the first time police had been called to help the couple. In January, Jordan was arrested for beating on Correa. In all, DCF says they've received four hotline calls involving Jordan.
