Mom of Wandering Tot Held on $15,000 Bond

Mom who passed out after allegedly drinking and doing drugs in court

The Hialeah mother whose young child was found wandering in the middle of a street while she was allegedly passed out on drugs and booze is being held on $15,000 bond.

Jacqueline Perez, 28, was in bond court Friday where she faced child neglect charges in the Thursday morning incident.

Police say Perez was passed out in her home on the 200 block of E. 57th St. around 10 a.m. when her 4-year-old boy was found wandering the middle of the street by a sanitation worker.

The youngster had been out walking for three hours and had sores on his bare feet, police said.

When Perez was questioned, she admitted to drinking and smoking weed before passing out. She allegedly told police she'd spent the night stripping at the Pink Pony Gentlemean's Club and that she'd smoked marijuana and had four shots of tequila.

Police said the conditions inside the home were unlivable and dirty, with just one mattress and no food.

Perez was arrested and the boy was put in the custody of his maternal grandmother. The Department of Children and Families said they're investigating and that it was the first time they've dealt with the family.
