Newly-Appointed Coral Gables City Manager Jim Beard Resigns After Background Check Reveals Abuse Charge, Bankruptcy: Report

Jim Beard was hired on Sept. 16 to replace Pat Salerno.

The Coral Gables City Commission is looking for a new city manager once more.

Newly-appointed manager Jim Beard withdrew Monday after a routine background check showed a 2011 child abuse charge and more than one bankruptcy, according to The Miami Herald.

The commission hired Beard, 50, on Sept. 16 to replace Pat Salerno, who resigned in April after five years, the Herald reported. The city will now hire a new search firm to recruit candidates.
