Panthers Stay Hot in Third Straight Win

The Panthers continued their scoring barrage with another five goals in Tuesday's win

The Florida Panthers easily beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 on Tuesday for their third straight win at BB&T Center.

Florida has now scored 14 goals in its last three games combined while only allowing three goals. The Panthers have won 15 of their last 19 games, and have not lost once in that stretch when Aaron Ekblad takes part in the action.

As has been the trend lately, Florida was aided by a big period. This time around it was the second period, where the Panthers tallied three goals and built a 3-1 lead. Florida also received a team effort with nearly everyone contributing, which has also been a common theme over the past month.

Aleksander Barkov fresh off a new six-year contract scored Florida's first goal of the night. The goal which came during a power play was Barkov's 13th of the season, and an assist went to Brian Campbell and Roberto Luongo.

Florida's next goal came courtesy of Vincent Trocheck during another power play. Trocheck's 14th of the season was assisted on by Campbell as well. Jussi Jokinen was also credited with an assist on the score.

Later in the period, Jokinen scored a goal of his own when he put home his ninth of the year with an assist from Reilly Smith. It would be Smith who would score next during the third period with assists form Trocheck and Erik Gudbranson. Alex Petrovic's first goal of the year would wrap up the scoring on the night.

Florida will head into the All-Star break now with its next scheduled action on Feb. 2 at Washington.
