Federal authorities are investigating a small-plane crash that left the pilot dead in Palm Beach County.
The body was found on the scene. No other injuries were reported, and it was not immediately known if anyone else was in the plane at the time.
A statement from the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office says the pilot’s body will be taken to the medical examiner's office. It was not immediately known what caused the crash early Sunday. Authorities say the single-engine plane was found in cane fields near the Pahokee Airport.
The Sheriff’s Office was monitoring the crash site as Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board arrived to investigate.
