Police Investigating After Dead Woman Found Floating in Pembroke Pines Canal

Canal is in residential area near Rainbow Lakes Villa Apartments

Pembroke Pines Police detectives are investigating the death of a woman found floating in a canal Monday afternoon, police said.

The canal is in a residential area near the Rainbow Lakes Villa Apartments on the 9400 block of Taft Street, where one neighbor saw the body floating past his backyard and called 911 after 5:30 p.m.

Guy Lalime said that at first he thought it was a mannequin.

"I looked to my right and I saw something floating, something fairly big. I went over there and I looked. I saw a body," he said.

Detectives pulled the body out of the water and later said the victim was a white female but could not release any other information. For now, police are calling it a death investigation since they don't yet know what exactly happened to the victim or how she died.

Investigators are asking for the public's help and urge anyone with information to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
