Police Search for Driver After Man Killed in Hit and Run in NW Miami-Dade

Police are searching for clues after a man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in northwest Miami-Dade over the weekend.

Dioni A. Feliz Lora, 31, was riding his dirt bike when he was struck by a truck in the area of Northwest 28th Street and Northwest 31st Avenue around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Miami-Dade Police said. The truck fled the area, and Lora died from his injuries.

His family is devastated by the sudden loss, especially his 6-year-old son Dioni Feliz, Jr.

"I'm going to miss my daddy," the young boy said. "To birthday parties, and when he took me to Chuck E. Cheese's and when he took me to the park."

Police said they're looking for a truck believed to be a 1999-2003 gold Ford F-150 with tinted windows. The truck should have damage to the left side of the bed and missing the truck topper.

"We're also asking the driver of the F-150, just because you were involved in this particular accident doesn't mean that you're at fault. We want to hear your side of the story and we encourage you to please come to our detectives and let us know," Miami-Dade Police Det. Argemis Colome said.

A makeshift memorial of flowers and candles was set at the intersection where Lora lost his life. A wake was held Tuesday before his body was flown to the Dominican Republic.

Family members said Lora was an auto mechanic.

"Wonderful mechanic...wonderful father to his son. He was there for everybody," said Lora's mother, Tiara Eleby. He also leaves behind a 12-year-old child.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
