Skid Continues for Heat With Loss to Hawks

The Heat had their losing streak extended to six games with a loss to the Hawks on Tuesday

The Miami Heat fell for an NBA-high sixth straight time with their 93-90 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.

Miami has sputtered out of the gate this season and now holds a 2-8 record. That mark has the Heat near the basement of the entire NBA and has increased the prospects of a long season. Miami has also not played well at home and is now only 1-5 at American Airlines Arena after this defeat.

Atlanta held a six-point advantage at the half which Miami would reduce in the third quarter. The Heat however were unable to keep the rally going and ultimately found themselves deeper in the hole during the fourth quarter. Miami would cut the deficit to only one with seconds to go, but Atlanta made clutch free throws to finish off the win.

As he has done all season long, Hassan Whiteside did everything he could to help Miami win. Whiteside achieved a double-double for the tenth time in 11 games with 19 points and 25 rebounds. The center also had two assists, a block and a pair of steals.

With Goran Dragic out injured for a third straight game, Josh Richardson found himself in the starting lineup once more. Richardson had a solid outing with 19 points, two steals and three blocks of his own. The season started slowly for Richardson after an injury, but he has begun to find his rhythm since joining the starting lineup.

Next up for the Heat will be a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
