Apple fans were lined up at South Florida stores early Friday to be among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone 6.
At the store on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, customers slept overnight to be ready when the doors opened at 8 a.m.
"It's bragging rights for me," said Paul Menendez, who was near the front of the line and said he had been waiting outside the store since Wednesday.
"It's time for an upgrade, I gotta get the new one," one woman said.
Miami Beach Police even sent a warning to iPhone 6 customers on Twitter.
"You're not the only one that wants the new #iPhone6 thieves do too. Be aware of your surroundings," police tweeted.
Pre-orders for the new phones sold out last week, and the company had more than 4 million advance orders in the first 24 hours, exceeding its initial supply.
