Sunrise Man Struck by Lightning

The man was under a tree by a canal when lightning struck the tree and the electrical current traveled onto the victim.

A man who was in his back yard was struck by lightning Friday afternoon.

Sunrise Fire Rescue responded to the scene at 2131 NW 107th Avenue. The man was under a tree by a canal when lightning struck the tree and the electrical current traveled onto the victim, according to the Sunrise Fire Department.

Fire officials said the man was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was discharged from the hospital Saturday.
