The shooting happened in the 700 block of Northwest 14th Street and involved a Homestead Police officer, Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Roy Rutland said.

According to Rutland, the officer was questioning the suspect when the suspect took a firearm out of his pocket and started running.

The officer chased the suspect and during the pursuit, the suspect pointed the gun at the officer and shots were fired, Rutland said.
