Police are investigating after they say thieves stole a cell phone from a Girl Scout as she was selling cookies outside a Fort Lauderdale grocery store.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. Sunday at the Winn Dixie at 3260 Davie Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale Police spokeswoman Det. DeAnna Greenlaw said.

According to Greenlaw, two men approached the Girl Scouts in front of the store, took the cell phone and fled the area. Officers searched the area around the store but were unable to find the suspects.

Greenlaw said detectives are obtaining footage of the theft from the store.
