Uber Driver Arrested in Key West

An Uber driver in Key West was arrested for allegedly providing the ride-hailing service without a license.

Martin Maness, 51, was arrested on Friday after an undercover officer received a ride from him.

Police said the arrest was made following complaints that Uber drivers were picking up fares from Key West International Airport.

Maness has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of violating the city's ordinance, which went into effect July 1.

The ordinance makes it illegal for Uber or any other ride service to operate passenger vehicles-for-hire without the proper license.

Maness faces up to 60 days in jail and a possible $500 fine.

Meanwhile, last week, Uber announced it's pulling its service from Broward County on July 31. Lyft will do the same.
