WATCH: Erratic Driver Arrested in Fort Lauderdale After Cop Opens Fire

A man who was driving erratically and in circles in downtown Fort Lauderdale was arrested after an officer fired his weapon in an incident that was caught on camera.

Sheldon Adderley, 36, is facing charges including reckless driving, resisting an officer and aggravated assault on an officer following his arrest Sunday.

The video (below), recorded by a witness and posted on YouTube, shows a Volkswagen sedan driving up and down Southwest 2nd Street near Himarshee Street as an officer repeatedly tells him to stop.

At one point the car drives away then comes back and slowly rolls onto the sidewalk as an officer shoots one of the tires. The driver, later identified by the police as Adderley, jumps out and runs down the block before he stumbled and was taken into custody.

Police confirmed that the officer discharged his weapon but said they couldn't comment on specifics of the shooting.

Witnesses said they couldn't believe what they were seeing.

"It was pretty insane," said Danielle Shaubah, a waitress at nearby TacoCraft. "The cop got in the middle of the road, took out his gun. Shot out the tire. Thank God the guy did not lose control or go anywhere off. He just wound up slowly drifting into Public House."

The only damage happened when the car rolled into the wall of the restaurant, causing a small nick. Witnesses said there were lots of people in the street attending a nearby pride fest.

"It could've been a lot worse. The cop did what he saw was best so there was no casualties," Shaubah said. "I mean, granted I guess, thank God that the car didn't lose control but the whole situation was handled in a very correct, professional manner."

Adderley has previous arrests for speeding, possession of a controlled substance and domestic violence, court records showed.
