Carl Zogby of Hialeah Police said the two occupants of a black SUV were transported to the hospital after their collision with the unmarked police car. The driver of the SUV is Andrea Castillo's boyfriend, according to the family.

“The most important thing we had to do when we arrived at this accident was get the three persons to the hospital as quickly as possible,” Zogby said.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a hospital where he and the driver of the SUV remain.
