Woman Shot to Death in Overtown Apartment

Miami Police are on the scene investigating a shooting that happened in an Overtown apartment in the overnight hours Tuesday.

Sources tell NBC 6 South Florida that police received a call of a domestic situation at the first floor corner apartment at Northwest Eighth Street and Northwest Fourth Avenue in Overtown around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police confirm that the victim, a woman, was shot to death in that apartment. The woman's two children were also inside that apartment, and were seen later with police officers.

"The children right now are in police custody waiting on the next of kin to receive them," said Frederica Burden of the Miami Police Department.

Family members identified her as 33-year-old Scorro Delgado.

According to neighbors, the woman lived there with her boyfriend and two young children.

Police have not released any information on the identity of the shooter. Investigators want to question 28-year-old Wilmer Samaron, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
