Woman Says Stranger at Coral Gables Hospital Fed, Caressed Her Elderly Mother

Adrianna Gordon said the woman visited her mother a few times

Adrianna Gordon said she walked into her ailing mother’s room at Coral Gables Hospital to find a 34-year-old woman feeding and caressing her mother.

But the woman was no nurse – she was a total stranger.

"I’m like what are you doing here, who are you, what are you doing to my mom?” Gordon said of the woman, identified by police as Daysmarys Giz.

Gordon’s 80-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital on Friday, to have fluid drained from her stomach.

“She hugged and kissed me,” Gordon’s mother said in Spanish in a cell phone video recorded by Gordon’s daughter. The elderly woman apparently received more than one visit from the mystery guest.

"On Saturday she was here for an hour and a half in front of my mother, making all kinds of noises. Sunday morning when I got here, she had all kind of food, all kind of drinks, hugging her, kissing her, touching her,” Gordon said.

Gordon’s mother said she thought the woman worked for the hospital. And the nurses thought the stranger was a family member, according to Gordon.

Coral Gables Police said the hospital believes the woman had entered other patients’ rooms as well. She inadvertently left her ID behind when she left the hospital.

When police tracked her down she was behaving strangely, they said, and they took her to Larkin Hospital, fearing that she would hurt herself.

Coral Gables Hospital said in a statement that the safety of its patient is a top priority.
