Dolphin Player Hartline's Truck Found at Scene of Crash

FHP investigation into abandoned pickup at accident scene

Police are investigating a crash involving Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline's truck after it was abandoned at the accident scene earlier this month.

The Florida Highway Patrol is trying to determine who was driving Hartline's pickup when it collided with an abandoned Cadillac Escalade on I-595 near I-95 during the early hours of July 3, according to a traffic crash report.

"His vehicle ran off the road and hit the parked car," FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky told the Sun-Sentinel. "We don't know who was driving the vehicle."

Hartline, 23, has yet to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident as the FHP continues its investigation.

According to a traffic crash report, FHP troopers went to Hartline's home the day of the crash, but a house guest said he wasn't there.

When police called Hartline's phone, he didn't answer, but his lawyer called them back to say Hartline was uninjured, according to the report.

FHP said they haven't received a call from Hartline.

The Ohio native was drafted out of Ohio State by the Dolphins in the fourth round in 2009, and made his debut last year.

He finished his rookie season with three touchdown receptions and one rushing touchdown on 506 receiving yards.

Hartline's brush with the law is just the latest in a trouble-filled off season for Miami.

Lineman Tony McDaniel was arrested in early February after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, followed by cornerback Will Allen's DUI arrest two weeks later. Running back Ronnie Brown was busted for DUI a month later in Atlanta.

Defensive end Phillip Merling was arrested in May after he allegedly hit his pregnant girlfriend.
