Heat Avenge Loss to Spurs with Blowout Win

Ten days after suffering their worst defeat of the season to San Antonio, Miami returned the favor Monday night, topping the Spurs 110-80.

It was the Spurs' worst loss of the season, as well. Besides avenging the earlier loss, Miami earned its first win against a top-4 team, dominating the best team in the NBA for the final three quarters.

Chris Bosh continued his streak of stellar play, scoring 30 points and adding 12 rebounds. He continued to penetrate the painted area, drawing five fouls and knocking down all 10 free throw attempts.

Bosh combined with his fellow superfriends to score 80 points. Dwyane Wade scored 29 with 9 rebounds, while LeBron James added 21 points and 8 assists. As a team, Miami shot 54% from the field and a near perfect 23-of-24 from the free-throw line.

Miami's defense helped fuel the offensive explosion, forcing a lot of missed Spurs shots that turned into Heat fast breaks. The Heat combined for nine steals, while Wade and James added two blocks apiece. At one point in the 3rd quarter, Miami forced shot-clock violations by San Antonio on two straight possessions. San Antonio shot 38%, well below their 48% season average.

Like Sunday's blowout of Memphis, Monday night's victory featured significant minutes from Jamaal Magloire, Miami's human victory cigar. The win continues a staggering turnaround for the Heat, who have responded to a five-game losing streak with three straight victories, two over the top teams in the Western Conference.

With the help of a Boston loss at the hands of New Jersey, Miami pulls within two games of the Celtics and Chicago Bulls, who are tied for the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

Miami gets another shot against a top team on Wednesday, hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder.
