Love and Theft Kicks Off CMT on Tour

CMT On Tour kicks off this Wednesday, October 10, with Jake Owen, Love and Theft and Florida Georgia Line. Before they hit the road, we chatted with Eric Gunderson of country duo Love and Theft. First stop: they'll play right here in New York City.

What is the best thing about touring and being on this tour in particular?
Meeting people. I've met some of my best friends on the road whether it's other musicians touring with us or even audience members that we meet.

For those who aren't familiar with your music yet, how would you describe your sound?
Well, we are influenced by the Eagles and a ton of classic country. I don't know that I would describe our sound as anything but our own. Lots of two-part harmonies and classically influenced productions.

Who or what are some of your musical inspirations? Is there someone you're dying to collaborate with?
The Eagles, Jackson Browne, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis… we may not sound like the classic country, but it is what got us both into singing and writing songs.

Tell us about one of your favorite cities.

Portland, Oregon is a beautiful place, but I absolutely love Nashville, TN. It's got the perfect blend of southern charm and country music.

As Southern boys, what is something about the South that you love that other places just don't quite have?
Most people in the south are so friendly. They would give you the shirt off their back, have you up on the front porch for a beer.  I'm not saying that doesn't exist in the north, but I'd say it's more prevalent down here.

What is your favorite late-night food on the road?
Corn dogs
